I rooted the tablet using Purple Drake. The procedure completed successfully and RootCheck affirms that the tablet is rooted.
So why can't I mount /system as rw and have it be honored? I can actually mount it rw, but that seems to be for show only as any attempt to write to /system results in a "Read-only file system" error. I even tried the highly recommended RootExplorer, but it too shows the new status as rw, but writes produce the "Read-only file system" error.
"adb remount" has the same effect.
I don't know what else to try. I'm trying to fix a problem with the audio output, but the fix requires editing xml files located in /system/etc. Argh.
Suggestions are most welcome. Thanks in advance.
