Hello!
So I recieved my new phone today, and of course the first thing i want to do is gain superuser access. However upon trying to unlock the bootloader, I come across some issues, and nothing is pointing me in the right direction.
so I thought I'd ask you guys, seeing as you've been helpful to me in the past with my kindle fire.
Checklist:
bootloader stated as unlockable: Yes, quadruple checked
software version 18.3.C.0.37: yes
android SDK and fastboot drivers installed: yes
device recognised on fastboot devices: yes
android version: 4.4.2
Phone turned off and in fastboot mode: yes.
Unlock computer details:
OS: Windows 10 professional
Driver signature enforcement: disabled
now the problem arises when executing the unlock command following the official sony guide
'fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock [code hidden]'
when executed, within a tenth of a second, it returns with an unspecified failure. it just says FAILED: Command did not succeed.
flashtools gives a similar error.
the phone boots up and works fine following the failure.
I'm assuming the bootloader wasn't previously unlocked, I tried checking via a "device info" command but the command timed out with a "too many links" error. that and it was bought semi new from Curry's/PC world.
TrackID still works as well, so I'm assuming all is well in bootloader land.
I can realistically only assume it's either the battery life being too low (56%), triggering a failsafe cancellation command, OR it's a driver incompatibility with windows 10 and that i need to install a linux partition. however, i've never seen this command fail, my old Xperia M unlocked AND rooted without a hitch, but that was an old android OS being rooted via windows 7.
Any ideas of what's going on and what to try?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
if you require any more information regarding the phone or PC, please ask away :)
