G4 OIS/Autofocus noise issue

I have an issue with the camera on my G4 I just received roughly two days ago and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem. Mine is the AT&T H810 variant, but I figured since it's most likely hardware I should post it here. I have seen people post similar problems, but with no samples of the issue so I cannot tell if I have the exact same problem or not, so I decided to start a new thread.

On to the problem: I was messing around with long exposure in almost no light and a laser pointer. After a dozen or so pictures I would go to the photos app to review the pictures I took. Upon returning to the camera app there would be an odd humming noise coming from the phone with very faint black horizontal lines all over the viewfinder. The issue immediately goes away after closing the camera app. My first guess was the ois is trying too hard, but I don't quite think that would make much sense.. I took a video the second time it happened, but I'm unsure how to share it as I cannot post links just yet.

I should note the camera would NOT focus at this point, and changing the focus to macro distance in manual mode made the hum quieter while moving it to max distance made it louder and have a clicking noise. Both focus options gave a blurry image as well.

I suppose my question is: is this normal behavior? Does running in ultra low light just knock the ois or autofocus out of whack, or should I be looking at exchanging this phone before my return period is up?
