Galaxy S6 5.1.1 - All new features

Here are all the feature changes I noticed, including little things:

–You can no longer select text in an input field by double tapping a word; now must long press to select.

–Volume buttons work normally in the Messaging app (previously they changed the font size)

–You can't grab the scrollbars on the sides of most apps to quick scroll (this was a feature that worked for most apps in 5.0.2)

–Obviously, Samsung Pay

–A new app from AT&T or Samsung: Games (which can be uninstalled entirely)

–Apps don't reload immeidately after you switch to a different app via the Recent button and then switch back. However, they do still reload on occasion, like with Chrome.

–Recents button responds ever so slightly faster (the lag is probably inherent because of the multitasking feature)

–Live streaming is a new mode in Camera, to automatically upload to YouTube

–I'm pretty sure the Messaging app settings layout got tweaked but I can't remember how

–I'm possibly wrong, but I think the font settings in Display apply more universally now. Previously I had it set to "very small" but the font in Gmail emails didn't seem to be affected. Now, Gmail emails are small like other text.

–I've heard of the option to change the parallax effect in TouchWiz launcher, but I'm using the GNL and am too lazy to check TW

That's all I've noticed so far. Comment if you notice anything else different.

Help with installing Samsung features on stock Android

Hey guys,

Sorry for the VERY noob question, but I didn't find it anywhere.

Is it possible to install Samsung Features on stock Android? If yes, how?

I have a S6 ported ROM, but it's not as fast as I expected, so I'm going back to a stock Android, but I don't want to get rid of some Samsung stuff, like the S-Pen features, the S Beam, the Ultra Power Saving, etc.

If you know how, let me know!

Thanks!

Xiaomi Mi4c Overview - Midrange Beast with Flagship Features

Now the third largest phone manufacturer in the world and the leading smartphone manufacturer in china, Xiaomi’s been bringing amazing specs for extremely low prices, and with the Mi4C, they’ve one upped themselves once again, bringing flagship features to budget/midrange prices.

What is it & What’s new?

Xiaomi is another of the long list of new phones that offer flagship specs at a reasonable price, but this time, they really mean to destroy the competition. Like how intel heavily subsidized the Asus ZenFone 2 (my current daily driver FYI), this is Qualcomm’s attempt to do that, as it starts at 200 dollars with a 808, the same SOC in the LG G4 and the moto X pure edition. It’s essentially the Mi4i (which looks quite a bit like the 5c...) but without the overheating issues and better specs, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it’s a rather compact 5 inch phone, a space only occupied but the moto g right now.. and this is a much better phone than that.

What really makes this device special is the features it has for the price: Qualcomm quick charge (which has changed how I use a device and I’d never buy a device that doesn’t have it), USB Type C with an adapter so you don’t have to throw out all of your accessories in the box, a display from the best like Sharp, LG & JDI/AUO, IR blaster, dual sim, SD card slot, the list goes on and on. They threw the kitchen sink at it and if there’s anything you really want out of a phone, it’s probably here. this phone has flagship specs for a budget price, and it’s pretty future proof as well. Just reading the feature list makes this device seem like less of a compromise than the OnePlus 2, which prided itself as a no compromise flagship/ 2016 flagship killer, but honestly, for the money, I’d probably buy this over the OP2.

If you want the complete spec sheet, here it is:

Xiaomi Mi4c
CPU - Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexacore processor
Memory - 16gb & 2gb @ Standard, 32gb & 3gb @ Advanced, both with Micro SD Card Expansion
Display - 5 inch, 1080p IPS LCD (440ppi)
Dimensions - 213.81 x 6.96 x 0.78 cm / 5.43 x 2.74 x 0.31 inches, 162g
Cameras - 13MP Rear / 5MP Front
Connectivity - BT 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB, 3.5mm
Battery - 3000 mAh/ 3080mAh
OS - Android 5.1 with MIUI skin
Pricing - 0 USD @ GearBest for standard, 0 for Advanced edition

What are your favourite key features?

When looking for a new phone or a new ROM, there are a couple of things that I consider the most important things. I am really interested in hearing about what you consider the key features.

Some of the basic features is:
- The phone should not randomly crash
- It should be compatible with all the apps that I use. For me that will be news apps, browsers, facebook, whatsapp, skype, a few simple games and a number of streaming apps.
- The graphics should be OK, but I am really happy, if I get HD in a decent quality on a phone. Playing video should be nice and smooth.
- Sound should be good using decent head phones. I play different kind of music.

So what are the key features that really make a phone stand out for me:
1) Battery life is really important. If a phone should only be charge once a week like my good old Nokia, it would be great. But for smartphones, the realistic goal must be no more than once a day.
2) A decent camera. For really good pictures, I use an SLR camera, but for the here and now pictures, the phone should be able to handle it.

So far I have not been happy with the battery life on my E975, but I have been using the AOSP_r18 Pure from DevSwift1 for a while, and this is by far the most battery friendly rom I have tried on E975.

The camera on my E975 is OK in outdoors conditions, but pretty bad in indoor conditions.

So back to my question, what are the most important features for you and why?
