TWRP - No OS Installed After Installing ROM

Hi,

I'm currently trying to install CyanogenMod onto my HTC One X+, but keep running into problems.

I unlocked the bootloader, and installed TWRP v2.8.7.0.
I went into recovery fine, and used "adb push" to push cm-11-20150906-NIGHTLY-enrc2b.zip onto the device and install it through TWRP.
I then tap "reboot" but it always tells me that "No OS Installed", and rebooting into the bootloader to flash the boot.img and erase the cache doesn't seem to fix this issue.

I've tried a few different versions of recoveries, like CyanogenMod's recovery, but still can't seem to get it to install any OS. Always just get stuck on the HTC logo.

Am I missing an important step, or something? Thanks for your time.

Can i get root without unlocking boot loader and installing custom recovery?

[Q] Installing KK Bootloader - what is my D802 version?

I've been wanting to install CloudyG2 v3.3 to my D802 and I figured that I'll have to flash KK bootloader.

Where can I find my current D802 rom version (30a?30b?etc...)? - I understand that I need 30a/30d to install the AutoRec KK bootloader.

Should I event try to find it, or can I just flash the latest one? I'm a little bit confused...

P.S - Yes, I've read the D802 NOOB manual.

Help with installing Samsung features on stock Android

Hey guys,

Sorry for the VERY noob question, but I didn't find it anywhere.

Is it possible to install Samsung Features on stock Android? If yes, how?

I have a S6 ported ROM, but it's not as fast as I expected, so I'm going back to a stock Android, but I don't want to get rid of some Samsung stuff, like the S-Pen features, the S Beam, the Ultra Power Saving, etc.

If you're getting a "select language" bootloop when installing Cyanogenmod 12.1

Hello everyone!

I'm opening this post because even though it does say so in the Wilson's ROM, there are suggestions to the contrary on other ROM threads. This might only be necessary for the 32gig version

I was desperately trying to get CM12.1 flashed onto my 32gig mi4i which comes stock with MIUI 5.9.15, and nothing was working. Wiped everything, formatted, tried different sets of GAPPS, tried different ROMS... no cigar. It would flash, optimize apps, reboot, go onto language selection screen, get stuck for a few seconds, and reboot. and reboot. and reboot. you get the idea.

You ABSOLUTELY need to flash MIUI 6.6.10 first. No other version of MIUI will work. I tried a couple of others first since 6.6.10 was taking forever to download to no avail. I put the patience in, downloaded 6.1.10, flashed the UBER ROM and voila! works first try.

I've only been toying with it for an hour or so but i'm really, REALLY loving it. I'm not a fan of MIUI but I could have gotten used to it, however the ****ty recent apps drawer and the useless lockscreen were deal-breakers for me. I'm a lot happier with my Mi4i purchase now!

Thanks a lot to everyone putting in the effort to port and compile these ROMs so noobs such as myself just have to hit a few buttons to get them working.

Installing a custom recovery on ASUS MemoPad 7 (ME572C)?

I'm running a rooted Lollipop 5.0.1 ("LRX22C.WW_epad-V12.14.1.17_20150713 044030454_201502120108") on my ASUS MemoPad 7 (ME572C) (WiFi + LTE) and I'd like to install the "Xpose for Lollipop" framework to it.
Therefore I downloaded the necessary files ("XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk" and "xposed-v72-sdk-x86.zip"). Installation of the apk was no problem, but I ran into problems when trying to install the zip. It seems that I only can install it via a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP. And to install one of this it's presupposed to have an unlocked bootloader. But I learned that it is currently impossible to unlock the bootloader officialy.
So I tried the following to install the zip without having a custom recovery:

• tried the apps "Flashify (for root users)" and "[ROOT] Rashr - Flash Tool" without success. Flashify reports to have installed the zip but when I opened a file browser to check if the files were copied into the system folder or its subfolders they were not copied. And Rashr just installs zips when a custom recovery is installed

• tried to copy the zip contents manually to the system folder and its subfolders with my "TotalCommander" file browser without success because writing access to that folder were denied

• tried to copy the zip contents manually to the system folder and its subfolders with the root file browser of my "ROM Toolbox Pro". I was able to copy the files, but after restart it seems that the Memo Pad is stuck in a boot loop AFTER displaying the INTEL logo

Now I'm of the opinion, that I need to install a custom recovery. But how do I do that without unlocking the bootloader? There must be a way because I saw articles in the internet saying that they have flashed such a recovery but don't telling how.
Is there someone who can tell me how I do that?

Help w/ Installing CWM on Z3V

Hello, after a good two weeks of frustration and a soft-bricked phone, I'm happy to say that I've finally managed to root my first phone, with huge thanks to various threads on here.

I now, however, have run into another problem. Firstly, I'm using an Xperia Z3V, Android version 4.4.4 w/ build 23.0.E.0.376. I've downloaded BusyBox, ROM manager, ROM Toolbox Lite, and Titanium Backup (all suggested from another thread here). What I'm trying to accomplish is setting up a recovery w/ CWM, but according to ROM manager, my phone isn't supported, nor can I update my ROM (which I'm assuming is because I'm on stock ROM).

How would I go about getting CWM? Would I need Cyanogen, or another ROM in general? Or is the Z3V currently just not supported? Is it necessary to have CWM if I, say, just plan on using my phone for normal activities (I.E., Facebook, YouTube, Emails, etc.). The only thing outside of normal use would be upgrading to Marshmallow.

At first, I used Odin to get TWRP on my phone. With TWRP I did a complete backup (EFS, Boot, Cach, System, Data).

Actually, I thought I have done everything like it is instructed on this page.

After installing GApps, I wiped all data on the internal storage, did a factory reset and rebooted.
Unfortunately, I have been stucking at boot. There has been only the CM symbol on the display.

With TWRP I restored my backup. After that, my phone has been booting normally, but it could not find any mobile service.
According to the settings, my phone didn't recognise my sim card anymore.
(After using Odin, I did a reboot and noticed already that my phone hasn't got any mobile service anymore. Can this be?)

Moreover, I discovered that I my phone has got difficulties to copy things from the computer to the SD-card or to the internal storage.
Even copying things from the SD-card to the internal storage, or the other way round, using a file manager app like "Astro" is not working.

I tried to do a factory reset, but then again, the phone stucks at boot. On the display just appears "SAMSUNG".


Can you guys please help me to get back to a working phone?

Help with installing Dynamic Kat Rom etc

Could somebody explain to me the steps of installing this rom properly, also it says that on my phone model sm-n910w8 that i need a kernal to flash I have no idea how to do that properly either which kernal to choose, or what the difference between a rom and a kernal is. Also how to install themes. And to do all 3 of these things without messing something up. Thanks.

Installing the Unlocked/Developer ROM for an AT&T One M8?

I purchased a used, unlocked HTC One M8. I rooted it and, if I understand correctly, can't receive OTA updates due to having TWRP installed.
I would like to know if installing the "Unlocked/Developer" ROM (4.16.1540.8) would work with my phone since it is unlocked.

Problem after installing recovery.

So, I'm new in messing with android but I wanted to root my LG L9 p760 and give it some tweaks. I've rooted it and installed "busybox x" then added artas182x CWM recovery and reboot phone, after entering recovery and creating backup file on my external sd card I wanted to reboot but when phone is launching suddenly appears communicate "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stoppetd." and I'm left with white screen which has title: "Encrypting" and button to restart phone. Maybe someone had this problem and knows how to fix it? :(

Deodex stock rom for installing Xposed on SM-T805

I'm just taking my first steps with my brandnew SM-T805.
I managed to get root, I installed a custom recovery and everything runs pretty promising.

Now I have still the problem that not every app can be run in the side by side multi window mode. I read that this can be fixed with the xposed framework.

So for Xposed it seems that I need to have a Deodexed ROM.
My stock rom seems to be Odexed.

How can I convert or get a Deodexed one?
I'd prefere to use a stock rom for now, just to get no troubles with LTE and so on... Just stock, with root and deodexed with xposed.

Teclast x98 air 3g need help installing windows

hey! i just got teclast x98 air 3g from my university and apparently its was only on android only and it bios was locked. so i flashed the latest bios to unlock dual boot option and i succeeded. Now it has dual boot option but only shows android. can any body please guide me thoroughly on how to install windows 10 in it also with android still being available as dual option. its c8j7 model of x98 3g air.

please help i really want to use windows 10 on this with android. Any help will be highly appreciated.

installing other OS on smart devices

Is it possible to install some version of linux eg ubuntu or redhat on a smart device? I know the CPU is not x86 and not supported by Windows, but maybe it is supported by linux? in that case we could ditch the Android and simply install linux? I know this sounds silly on a smartpphone, but tablets and phablets have large screens with huge resolutions plus all the other hardware that you typically find in a laptop/desktop. I know Android is built on top of some linux kernel, so I presume there exists linux distributions that support the diverse hardware found on smartphones/tablets. All we need is the "installation CD" if you see what I mean.

[Q] Installing Cerberus as a system application problems.

Guys, could anyone help me to solve a problem.
Moforooted . KK: Computerfreek 1.5.5A image.
Downloaded and installed Cerberus.
Problem: doesn't allow me to convert it to system appl, so I could get all features I need.(locations, ect..)
Tried with TB, and, as Cerberus recommended, Link2SD.
With Link2SD getting message "appl Cerberus stopped"
with TB its just stopping Cerberus and nothing happening.

Anyone have had similar problems?

[GUIDE] Installing and Rooting H950PR 5.1.1 from 5.0.1 10b

I caught the deal on ebay for an inexpensive Flex 2 not so long ago and, of course, the first thing I set out to do was update and root it.

The stock image ran 5.0.1, w/ firmware H950 v10b. I attempted an OTA update several days in a row, being told each time that none was available (the phone is AT&T branded and my service is through AT&T), but eventually grew impatient to get that sweet, sweet 5.1.1 action going.

After attempting to flash the 5.1.1 v11x rooted system image provided by randrew87 (here), I was greeted with a nifty little 'Security Error' boot screen and pursuant loop. Sadly, I wound up flashing the stock system dump I created following that tutorial to get back into a usable state.

Left with no other options (assuming, correctly, that I'm being impatient with OTA), I decided to try the 5.1.1 H950PR v15a firmware.

NOTE: Though I chose to flash the unrooted 5.1.1 H950PR image first, you may not have to complete this step; I'm not sure, but it's possible that you could simply write the rooted image instead.

First, I followed this wonderful tutorial by Sj12345: [KDZ] H950PR 5.1.1 compatible with ATT H950 with Video!!!

My initial plan was to write the unrooted system image and root using any of the available tutorials. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any of the tutorials to work for me as my device simply refused to allow r/w operations to /system while using the COM interface, regardless of my approach.

After a little trial and error, I discovered I could write the rooted H950PR-v15A image, provided here by Sj12345, and achieve root.

Here's how:

• Download rootedsystem.img (from Sj12345's post)


• Download LG Root Tools.zip (attached) and extract to a folder


• Copy to the root of your internal sdcard via means of your choice (I used MTP mode and Explorer to drag and drop)


• Power off your device


• While holding VOLUME UP, insert a USB cable.


• Open a Command Prompt window where you extracted the archive (easiest way is by holding Shift then right clicking within the folder > Open Command Prompt Here)


• Double click ports.bat (included in the archive). Find the diagnostics port (in my case, COM4)


• Type the following:

  (replacing 4 w/ your com port)


• You'll be greeted with a '#' prompt, terminal-style. From there, issue the following command (thanks to randrew87's thread):

• The operation will take a couple of minutes. Once complete, you'll again be greeted with the '#' prompt.


• Type LEAVE (all capitals), and hit enter. Your phone will reboot and have a clean, rooted image installed.


• Profit.

This guide is obviously very specific, requiring H950v10b 5.0.1 firmware on an AT&T flex 2, no OTA availability, and a myriad of other issues (such as /system being readonly). My hope is that this will aid others who don't fall exactly into the parameters described in existing tutorials.

Thanks again to randrew87 and Sj12345 for their great posts and work; this thread is merely a slightly different approach to their pre-existing methods. They did the work, not me!

Problems installing Zips en TWRP

I´m having problems installing the nebula kernel. When I install it by TWRP it restarts and get the LG logo and then the screen goes black and stays there. I have TWRP 2.8.7 version, so do not think that is the reason.
It has also happened to me when trying to install other kernels like 777 and roms like Exodus and Bliss Pop.
Any ideas??

Maybe colud be because of the I´ve bumped my phone? I did it installing the KDZ of the last v20W and using LG G3 AUTOREC-Lollipop for bumping it.

Someone who had installed nebula can tell me from which base was (KDZ or ZIP coming of KDZ KitKat??
