why is my ringtone reverting to the default?

This is a strange one.
I have uploaded some songs onto my phone's memory (not SD card) and set one of them to be my ringtone for all contacts.
It works OK for a while, and then suddenly when someone calls me, I hear the default ringtone of the device (instead of the one I set)...
Then, when I go to the device's Sound & Notifications settings, I see that the ringtone that's displayed as the selected one is still the one I manually selected, but when i try to play it, it plays the default phone ringtone instead.
I can only get the real song to play after i remove it from the list and re-add it.

Any ideas?
I already turned the Ringtone ID setting off, and I have no SD card installed on the device.

How to set SD card as default storage?

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out how to make the external SD card the default storage. Be it for downloads or data from apps, it's all saved on the internal one and I can't see a way to change it. Most answers I found on google are suggesting to change it in the settings (storage --> make SD card primary storage, which is not available) or in the aosp browser (not available either). :eek:

How to set default keyboard in a custom ROM?

Dears,
I'm editing a custom ROM based on Android 4.4.2 for Rockchip chipset.

The original ROM comes with a default chinese keyboard.
I removed the related apk but after flash, at 1st run, I have no keyboard until I go to input settings and I open Android's AOSP keyboard settings.

How can I set the AOSP as default keyboard in the firmware before packing it in order to have AOSP active right after flash?

Default apps not working

Does anyone know which stock system app is associated with the Default app manager. I think I may have removed it when I was debloating because everytime I click on a hyperlink I always hav to choose which app I want to use to open it. I have tried clearing all the set defaut apps and then reset them many times but it does not work.

QuickPic - default picture viewer, troubleshooting, stock android 4.1.2

On my S3 mini with stock 4.1.2, I've uninstalled the stock gallery application (SecGallery2.apk) and replaced it with QuickPic. Everything is working great except two things:

1. when I'm tryin' to set a picture as a contact photo (Phone->Contact->Contact Photo -> Image), I get a toast which says "No pictures are available on the phone";


2. when I'm using stock camera application, when I want to browse the pictures on my phone using the button link, the camera application cease to function and I get an error message "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped".

It seems that "contacts" and "camera" applications are not aware of QuickPic presence or there isn't a bound between those three apps. I want to use QuickPic to set a custom contact photo or browse my pictures, directly from "contacts" and "camera" applications. What should I do?

Default SMS app and Hangouts

OK, So I've changed the default SMS app from Messaging to Hangouts, for the main reason that I have a smartwatch and Hangouts allows you to read conversations on the watch. Problem is now that the default Messaging app keeps giving me Notification Badges. I've tried disabling it in Applications, but it doesn't show up in the "All" list.
Any ideas?

Change default browser

Is there any possibility to change the default browser? There is no option in Apps --> Manage apps --> Default apps settings (screenshot1). Also no chance to clear defaults in default browser app info (screenshot2).

Is there a setting in missing...? and if not what is the best option you found that doesn't create complications to the system. I am rooted and using xposed.

Anybody have the default LG G4 emoji files?

I changed my emoji with the emoji switcher ap, but soon realized that they didn't support the unicode 7 emojis so I kinda want to switch them back. Does anybody happen to have the default LG G4 emojis that they could post. I'd greatly appreciate it.

How to get back default recovery option

Hi guys. Months ago something went very wrong with my Android installation, after that I'd to claim the warranty on my phone.

The Carrier proceed to reinstall the OS but until later I didn't realized that recovery options went missing.

So, I would Like to know if I can get it but, using the recovery tool provide by LG or by another method.

default boot set to bootloader not system

i had upgraded my mexi-maxx to lollipop a few months ago and could no longer stand it. outside of being picky with my phone, the GPS didn't work as I had hoped.

i reverted back to kitkat by means of a TWRP backup I had. Had some issues with doing so. some of my images would not work, but a stock on of KK did. could not use any of @ChazzMatt images either; nor factory images as RSD pinged a FAIL. started getting worried, but just about all good now.

the phone now boots directly to bootloader mode and i have to choose 'start' to boot into system.

is there a way to change this? thanks all.

[Q] Get rid of default music player

Hi,

I've received my Honor 7 recently and reinstalled all my previous android applications (I used before a Nexus 4).
I use n7player for music playing but unfortunately, even if I check under "default apps / music" and select n7player, when I press play with my headphones, it's default music player witch starts.
I could not disable the application as it's in gray state. If I stop the services. music stops but If I press play again, it's again the default music player witch is starting.

Any idea?

Brand new to XDA and new to messing with my phone in anyway, I looked through some threads, but am not sure if I can mess something up worse by not following the right steps,

I basically bought a used phone on craigslist, AT&T LG G FLEX 2 - LG-H950 and when I factory reset it, many of the default apps are not installed, cannot use my calendar and the phone is just a little off all together.

Not sure if the phone is still rooted or if the factory reset cleared it, and I am all together worried that the only reason the kid sold it to me was because he messed it up and couldn't fix it and just pawned it off to my dumas

I know its frowned upon to start new threads when the answers are out there, but i need this for work ASAP and if I screw it up and cant use it all Ill have to go back to my work iPhone (last resort, i hate it)

It is currently on the android 5.0.1 and when i tried the update before i reset it, it said i couldn't update it something about the root. So i reset it and everything is the same as when I bought it on CraigList.

How do I get it back to square one, like it came in the box. I am interested in learning how to root and be in control of my own property, but I just want to get back to the start safely without bricking it so I can follow the forums and not feel so helpless.

im sorry if the first response to this just point me to another thread, but I will appreciate even that much guidance so at least i know i am headed in the right direction

HOW TO: put external microSD card as default memory in MIUIV7?

hello, since miui 5 (when we used wsm tools and xextstroage module) that i can't put my external sdcard as default memory to install apps, obbs, etc... there are some custom roms around there that have a built in option in settings to do that ("use external sdcard as default memory").


so the question is: is there any way to do the same at MIUI v7 and put the external sd card as default memory in REDMI NOTE 3G?
