[Guide] How to get Facebook Sync to work. [Should work for all phones]

So after having an issue getting my Facebook to sync with my contacts I went through a lot of effort to find a solution. I eventually found the issue that was causing Facebook not to sync. At some point the Facebook app removed the sync option entirely from their app. Older versions had an option that you could enable contact syncing.
So to fix the problem first uninstall Facebook.

The next step is to go to Settings->Security and tick the option Unknown sources. This will allow you to sideload apps.
Then go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/faceboo...-apk-download/ and download the Facebook apk.
Then open up a file explorer and go to your downloads folder.
Tap the apk you just installed and then click install. You may need to press next a few times first or scroll down through the permissions.
After this press login and once you're at the main page for the app press the menu button.
Tap Settings.
Scroll all the way to the bottom where you will find Sync Contacts.
Tap Sync Contacts where you will be given three options. Choose the one that best suits your needs.
After that go to your phone's settings again
Find and tap Accounts & Sync
Tap the plus sign
Tap Facebook
Go through all you need to go through
Then when your back at the Accounts & Sync page tap Facebook
Make sure the checkbox next to Contacts is checked
At this point you can go to your People app and sync your contacts

I highly recommend you make sure Facebook cannot auto-update
To do this go to Play Store
Tap the three bars at the upper left
Tap My Apps
Go to Facebook and tap it
Then press the menu button
A menu should popup that has an Auto-update option with a checkmark. Make sure it is unchecked.

A little side note you will get notifications in Facebook to update. Just ignore them you do not have to update.

A critic on current phones - An (currently?) imaginatory phone

Hi,

I just want to share my crazy idea for a smartphone, which would be better than current models. I do think that none of the current models really suite my needs and I do hear a lot of complaints on Goggle+ and on other places. That's why I started a new blog and added the following post to it: (Unable to link to it) reisiphone.wordpress.com/2015/09/30/the-start/ [Please copy this link to the blog post. I do not want to copy the whole thing ^^]

Some questions to start with:
  • Do you also think, that current models are not fitting to how we use is? like overpowered with a tiny battery, which size is decreasing with every iteration.

  • And your opinion on the choice of Hardware I thought in the blog. Was it wise? I was more thinking about everyone than about power user?

  • Do you think this has a minor chance to get real?

I didn't make a render or something like that as it should be as simple as possible and I am really unable to do this :p

I'm unlocking all Samsung phones.

Ah it's been a long time since i posted here.
Anyway on with it.
I'm unlocking all Sprint, Att, and T-Mobile Samsung phones. These will be direct unlocks. The unlock will survive system updates and factory resets. All Sprint unlocked can be used on Verizon, Att, tmo, page plus, straight talk or any other carrier. All Samsung phones can be unlocked except the Sprint S2, S3and Note 2. Please have your phone rooted in advanced just in case it's required. Inbox me to setup an appt.
Donations are appreciated but not required.

List of Phones which support Camera2 and DNG file support

As a photographer, the most important feature for me in an upgrade now is whether or not a device supports DNG (RAW) capture with it's camera. I also firmly support the buying of used devices to keep them out of landfills (or irresponsible recycling programs) for as long as possible.

I don't need the absolute latest gear. So I'm happy to snap up gently used.

Would those in the know kindly use this thread to begin listing any device which can support the new Camera2 Module in Android 5.x? I just want to know if the device is capable of outputting DNG files.

Thanks in advance!

Google Play Services Battery Drain Fix (Not Tested on other phones)

Hey guys, I was playing around and trying to get the google play services battery drain to stop some way. I found a small way to get it to drain a lot less. Its nothing big just thought i'd share if it helps. I haven't tried on other phones yet, but it probably would work.

Under settings go to Data usage , scroll down and find Google Services.
Click on it and below you can see Restrict App Background Data and switch it on.
That's all.

I am not sure if it will work for all you guys or if it is an actual fix but it did make it a lot better for me.
Anyways lemme know if it does and if so spread the word.
Peace :) ;)

[Help] Looking to switch phones

So, i'm actually using an ancient Galaxy SII and i'm looking to switch to the Moto G 3rd generation. I want to know honest opinions of Moto G owners to check if it fulfils my needs or if I need to keep saving money to buy another phone..

1) How is the performance? Are there much hiccups/lags/slow downs? How the SD410 + Adreno 306 do for gaming (Clash of Clans, Candy Crush..)? Does it heat up much? My SGS2 gets insanely hot when playing Clash of Clans, doing long time web browsing or long time phone calls... :crying:

2) For those who own the 2GB version, how is the multitasking? Is it worth the extra money?

3) How is the battery on both 4G and WiFi? I tried looking on the battery thread but got some discrepancy on the screenshots. I actually get 1h SOT on this 5 yo phone, have to charge it about 3 times a day, so anything above 3h is fine!

4) Are there any major bugs on the software? I found some threads but these bugs seems to be particular to the thread owners, I haven't found (yet) any wide spread bug.

5)I'm a bit worried about the new LCD panel since it's TFT. What do you guys think about it?

6) Would you recommend the phone? In a scale of 1 to 10 (considering the price, obviously), how much would you rate it?

I appreciate a LOT any feedback.. I want to retire this SGS2 as fast as possiblie. Thanks!! :D :D

Oden like software for Kyocera phones.

I need to flash my Kyocera Duraforce back to stock, has anyone heard of software and where I might be able to find the files to do so?

Improve the standby time of op2 , for rooted phones.

after waiting impatiently for the arrival of your op2 , many are disappointed with the low battery standby....specially if you are using LTE.
issues :

1) even having such a large battery, getting poor battery life.
2) even if the phone is idle, battery drains :crying:

so after having it for almost 2 weeks, i have learned most of the cpu tuner and battery saving apps wont work with op2, its not because of software, basically snapdragon 810's big little architecture is new and apps in the market are not compatible with this octacore new chipset.

and because of very less manufacturers are using this SOC as we now know why... and they were right... it heats up a lot!!! so app developers have not concentrated an specific app for this SOC.

so after lots of mix and matches, finally have come up with a stable solution as follows :

a) your phone should be rooted.

b) install 3c cpu manager from playstore.

c) open minimum 6 apps in background maximum the better.
( remember if no apps are running in background then cpu manager will show only maximum 1.555 ghz. max frequency and 384 mhz low frequency single setup only and big little architecture dual setup wont be shown ie: 810 has 4 cores running @ 1.555 ghz max and other 4 cores @ 1.76 ghz max. and both setups at 384 mhz minimum. )

d) open cpu manager, there should be 2 different setups, if not then open more apps in background, simply change the governor to ON-DEMAND, from interactive and set it on and reboot, as i have noticed with interactive governor even during standby, processor does not stays idle at lower frequencies.

after changing the governor, i have noticed that during standby cpu frequencies are in idle or at the lowest. which highly improvises the battery standby life and haven't noticed any performance degradation.

you can even limit the higher cores frequencies from 1.76 ghz to 1.55 ghz... improving up-to some limit of over heating issues and better standby time.

these are just the findings i discovered with my phone, so don't blame me if anything goes wrong, do it at your own risk.
