N900a Failed to Mount EFS

I woke up today and my Note 3 was dead. I assumed the battery died as that is in all likelihood what happened. I plugged my phone into the charger and attempted to turn it on. It stayed on the Samsung logo for several minutes. I then booted it into recovery mode, and noticed at the bottom, E: Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument). I attempted a cache wipe and at first it said failed to mount /cache, however another attempt and it completed without error. I then tried a reboot with the same problem. Next I tried a system/data wipe and got the same problem (failed to mount efs).

So, I used a 4 part Odin flash to 5.0 Lollipop OEM. This succeeded and upon reboot the phone got as far as the AT&T logo then hung again. Once in recovery I noticed the same E: Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument). I have searched on this and many other forums attempting to resolve this issue without success. I've been at this nonstop for 12 hours now. I know of a way to use adb to create a generic EFS folder, the problem is the phone is 100% stock, including no developer options(adb), custom recovery, etc. Not even busybox.

Anyone with any info on how I can unbrick this phone would greatly appreciated. Or even how I can use Odin to install safestrap w/ root thereby giving me the ability to mount the system with TWRP and send adb commands that way. To clarify, I have access to nothing but the stock recovery and download mode without ADB active on the phone. Thanks for your time.

Unable to mount - problems with TWRP during back up

I have a G900F with the stock rom on it which is running poorly and want to install the Cymogened 12.1 rom.

I have successfully managed to root my phone and install TWRP 2.8.7.0

I cannot make a back up of my existing rom!!!!

when i go into back up on TWRP the first thing i get in RED is

E:Unable to mount 'data'

it then proceeds to try and make a back and then fails

I have tried the following things with no luck
- formatting the sd card in the phone and on the laptop through 3 different formats
- trried to make a back up locally but cant as not enough space
- used the sd card formatter to format the sd card
- a 2gb, 16gb and 32gb sd card with no joy
- run root checker to ensure its fully rooted and it is
- run the micro sd card fix that was disabled in kit kat
- tried to use CWM recovery to make the back up and that did the same thing

does any of the below info help

- i have managed to factory reset my phone before without any problems
-i used my phone for work and use gmail and therefore the phone is encrypted , will this have a bearing on me not being able to make a back up to teh sd card or locally

please help as this is driving me insane :)

Can't mount system [TWRP]

Hello guys,

I've unlocked my bootloader and flashed TWRP.
Unlocked the bootloader the official way, flashed TWRP latest version from their website.

When I booted my phone it went straight into recovery. I saw that in "Mount" system was unchecked, checked it, rebooted, but it still got into recovery.
I downloaded official stock rom for 5.1 and flashed it using Flashtool, which didn't help as well.

Still TWRP cannot mount SYSTEM.

Any ideas...?

Mount or unmount a sdcard

Hello. My phone is xperia z1 and I wanna unmount my sdcard that has been inserted in the phone via an app,terminal emulator or other option. Note: I dont want to eject the sdcard from the phone physically just I wanna unmount it by keeping inside the phone. Also, I wanna mount it, whenever I need my sdcard to read or write something.
Xperia z1 has an option to unmount or mount a sdcard from the phone but after restarting the phone, the sdcard is mounted automatically by the phone but I dont want this. I wanna control it manually whenever I want.

How can I do it? It is very important. Please, tell me an exact way to do it.

how can i mount system at 5.1 (UL,Root,Stock-Rom)?

Hey there browsing with all those ads is a real pain, therefore i wanted to edit the hosts-file since adaway didn't worked.

Therefore i wanted to use the content of this page and add it to my hosts-file:

problem is, i can't mount /system with total commander although root is working (flashtool installed busybox fine as the root popup comes up and asking for root).

the bootloader is unlocked and via adb shell in root mount i also get:

I keep getting this error I think I might have wiped something I shouldn't have. I can still access SS(SafeStrap) but every install attempt ends with that error...please if anyone has advice on this or knows its bricked let me know so I can either switch to an old phone or go upgrade. I was having an issue with usb connection months ago while on the hyper drive rom so I decided to update to 21 from 20. When I updated the WiFi didn't work so I thought I'd go back to stock recovery, guessing the recovery file I had didn't work and now all I get is this mounting error. also system is not checked under mount through SS:eek::eek::eek::crying:

Can't mount 2nd partition or enable Init.d

I'm trying to use Link2SD, so I created the 2nd partition with ext3 format.
It did gives me the error "script cannot be created. Invalid argument". I did some research and for what i could understand, I need to enable Init.d, so link2sd scripts can be executed.

So i got Universal Init.d, it says my kernel doesn't support it. Tryed some scripts, but no deal.
The "init.d" folder is there with the script, but it's ignored.
Even if I try to execute the command manually (mount -o rw -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /data/sdext2) i get the same error using "su" privileges (invalid argument)....

My phone is Xperia Z2 rooted on Lollipop 5.1.1 with SuperSU and XZRecovery (TWRP & CWM).

Unable to mount '/data'

Hey guys,

lately i am having some trouble with my Phone.
Story:
I was surfing the world wide web and than turned the phone in standby (with 30% battery). Next morning i tried starting it but it didnt react. So i plugged it in and tried to start it. Everything seemed normal but then animation of the motorola logo lasted like 15 min until i got a blackscreen (phone is still on). I got curious and turned it off by holding the power button for serveral seconds. I tried again turning it on but every time the same thing happened. So i tried to reset my device with the factory reset. But nothing changed. After that i went into recoverymode (Teamwin) and tried to install a ROM and there i got always the same error:

Unable to stat '/data/dalvik-cache....
Unable to stat '/data/....
...
and the last one is always
Unable to mount '/data'

So i googled it and found some solutions:

• Factory reset


• Wiping data


• Format Data

I tried all of this solutions but it didnt seem that something has changed.
The problem is i have no idea how smartphones work and so i dont know what the "experts" are talking about, if i find a forum about this topic.

Does someone know how to fix this and can guide me to a working phone? I dont want to buy a new overprized phone.

TWRP Can't mount system ZR LP 5.1.1 Rooted LB

I just got locked out of my phone while trying out lockscreen apps, and then when I tried to restore using TWRP, I got the message - unable to mount system as rw. Earlier, while taking a backup, mounting as read only was solving this problem, but obviouslyread only would not work in restore operation. I used PRF Creator to create a prerooted firmware. I used NUT's latest dual recovery, BETA-SuperSu 2.49 zip and the Indian LP 5.1.1 FTF that I downloaded using XperiFirm. I threw in the Xposed Framework as an added zip as well. Is this a common problem with TWRP or was I facing something specific? Is there a way to mount system as rw from within TWRP using the command shell?

Reboot problem - Failed to mount cache (Boot loop)

Hi guys,

I'm seeking your help in assisting me getting my tablet works again. It's Nexus 7 2012 with last updated Android version 5.1.1 (LMY47V). The problem started when the tablet suddenly restarted and the loading intro (that appears after Google's logo) didn't change for long time. I entered the recovery mode and tried to wipe cache partition unfortunately which made my problem worse! upon reboot I only get the Google logo repeatedly with no change!

The recovery logs are as follow:

E: failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)
E: Can't mount / cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open / cache/recovery/log

I've searched on the forum and found an opinion that I should download the Android Image from the developers.google website and unzip till I find a cache.img file, but it wasn't there after I've extracted the image zip file.

I've important data that I need to retrieve from the tablet. What should I do? Taking into consideration that I didn't unroot the tablet but I did make the undebugging step before (working with pdaNet).

SM-T210R can't mount /system

Okay so today I tried to flash Inspirekat v2.1 rom on my galaxy tab 3 via latest TWRP, and after I wipe system, data, dalvik cache and cache I reboot into the system and I can't get passed the samsung galaxy tab 3 splash screen after some time I found out that the problem is the unability to mount the /system file, then I tried CWM and still the same thing.
Unfortunately I didn't make a backup because I didn't have any precious data there so I just thought I would skip that, I've also tried formatting all data on internal storage but with no avail...could anyone light up a candle for me?

[HOW TO] Enable USB Mass Storage Mode in Yuphoria to mount SD Card into Computer

Requirements:
1. Rooted Yuphoria phone with any ROM (this MAY work in other Yu phones.)
2. Terminal Emulator app
3. SE Linux Mode Changer app

One-Time Initial Steps:

1. Open SE Linux Mode Changer app and set it to 'Permissive' mode.
(This is required for write operations in SD card to work, else SD Card will be mounted as read-only).
2. Download the script file: ums
and copy & paste it in /system/bin folder.

Steps to Enable UMS:

1. Connect phone to Computer or TV or DVD or whatever.
2. Open Terminal Emulator app and Enter the following:

Unable to mount SM-T330NU running moonbutt74's CyanogenMod 11 Port as MTP, or UMS

I recently flashed moonbutt74's CyanogenMod 11 port onto my SM-T330NU Tablet using a CWM port. However, when attempting to mount my tablet through USB as MTP (with USB Debugging Enabled) it doesn't show up at all. When I attempt to mount it as a UMS device, it triggers a F: drive CD mount point.

I would post directly to the Development forum but due to certain rules, as a new user, I cannot. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The correct way to mount an ext4 sdcard on the stock 5.1 firmware+root?

So I have an unlockable bootloader on my Sony Z1C, so I can't (easily) run Cyanogen without doing some fun kernel repacking or finding the right rom. So far, I'm okay with the stock firmware. It does what I need it to do now that it's rooted.

The only issue, my SD card from my previous (now broken) phone is in ext4. Cyanogen automounts ext4 fine, but the stock firmware doesn't. I can use adb shell to mount it as root using the following:

It mounts, but it's totally not viewable by any apps or in the Android storage menu. I found some threads that say to do the following:

But that doesn't cause my sdcard to show up.

All the instructions I've found are for older 4.x android versions and have tons of zip files and init scripts, vold files that don't exist on my rom, fstabs that don't exist on my rom, and garbage for all other versions of Android. What is the right way to mount my ext4 sdcard on the Stock+root Sony rom so it shows up correctly in Android OS for all my apps.

I really don't want to reformat it in vfat. It's a 128GB sdcard and is quite literally filled with all my music (well, A-W. I ran out of space. X-Z will have to wait..). I can mount it manually, so the kernel supports it. Is there something in build.prop I can enable so the stock auto-mounter will recognize ext4?

Can I access user data on my phone that can no longer mount efs, system, cache, etc.

My Galaxy Note 2 decided to reboot this morning but failed to get past the logo. Entering recovery mode, I am greeted with messages such as:

and I am unable to successfully boot my phone.

At this point I am less concerned about fixing the whole phone. The issue is I haven't been using an SD card and I haven't backed up in a while so before I attempt to fix it, is there any way I can get this phone into a state where I can access my data via my computer and salvage it?

My rom was stock + root (Mr. Robinson), no custom recovery and I only have access to Macs at the moment.

Is it possible to have 2+ Partitions on extSDcard and mount Swap, Link2sd and MultiSy

Hello there.
I am currently running Android 5.0 LP (AllianceROM v9.1.1) on my rooted SGs5 klte G900F using TWRP and 64GB Samsung EVO MicroSDCard.
I just recently ran into some issues and wiped everything and reinstalled Alliance and started anew. B4 this happened i had partitioned my extSDcard and had Link2SD app and mounted my 2nd partition as ext4 and everythijg was fine. I researched about RAM swap so and Multi System Virtual Rom so ibwent ahead and wiped my extSDcard and Repartioned it With a 3rd n 4th partition.
1st partition: 44GB FAT32 for pics, Music ect.
2nd partition: 6GB SWAP for RAM
3rd partition: 6GB EXT4 for Link2SD
4th Partition: 9GB FAT32 for Multi System

I Just mounted my 2nd partition for SWAP and is working.
However i just opwned LINK2SD PRO and did as i did before and attemoted to mount scripts to ext4 and reboot and now i get an error saying Unable to mount: Invalid Arguement...

IF ANYONE CAN plz help me oit with this id greatly appreciate it as i have no clue what to do from here. Thank you for your time.
