Mi3 w/ CM12.1 Official ** GPS broken **

I updated my Mi3 to official CM12.1 and everything works except for GPS. Google Maps / Waze can't detect any GPS satellites.

I've tried setting the Location from High Accuracy to Device Only and back High Accuracy without any luck.

Previous on MIUI 6, GPS was fine.

Did I miss something somewhere?:confused:

Ok, so my friend was trying to use the partition tool to get more data but it screwed him over and now all he can get into is download mode, doesn't even have stock recovery now. So when you try to flash any version of the kdc(10c, 10e, 10d) it just stops at 49% on the phone screen.

Any way to make the flash tool to work or possibly get fastboot somehow?

Advanced Calling Broken

I have many contacts with phone numbers that include commas (a comma makes the dialer wait one second), some of which are meant for entry of calling card account numbers while calling overseas, etc. When I turn on Advanced Calling, for every phone number which has a comma, the first comma and everything after it are ignored by the dialer. Someone suggested I use a "p" instead of the comma, but it turns out the phone does not allow me to enter a "p" in the phone number field for a contact.

This makes Advanced calling useless for me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Broken screen. Is there any repair guide?

Hi guys,

I accidentally sat on my Z3 Tablet (I know how that sounds, but I had it in a messenger bag - not used to carrying those - got on the bus, sat down and there it was right where it was not supposed to be) and now I got a nice case of cracked screen.

As far as I can tell only the glass is broken because the screen and digitizer still work fine and with any clue how it is built inside I am definitely capable of fixing this/replacing the glass/screen as a whole. But after looking for a while, I haven't found any teardowns/fix guides etc. Because I am reluctant to do this "blindly" (although this would be my final choice) I wanted to ask if any of you has seen something that could help me or maybe even had the same problem and fixed it?

This is my first post and usually I only read in this forum, so I want to thank all of you who participate here for the massive amount of useful information :)

4g LTE broken on verizon m8 after travel

My HTC m8 on verizon was working great with 4G LTE until I traveled and used an alternative SIM. Now I can only use 3G. My brother is on the same account and we swapped sim cards. The phone was still stuck in 3G. My SIM connected to 4G LTE on his iphone. Verizon reset a bunch of stuff on the network side (never really sure quite what they are doing when I call). I checked the APN and tried most of the options without luck. I'm not sure what the settings should be, so that would seem to be a good place to start. Verizon sent me a new SIM, but I'm hesitant to go through the trouble of swapping it since it doesn't seem to be an issue with the SIM.

Anyone have the correct APN settings? Any other suggestions for troubleshooting?
Someone on reddit had the same issues (xda won't let me post links yet). I contacted them, but I haven't heard back.

[Q] Getting into Recovery, broken screen

I've been reading along in the XDA forums for quiet some time now, and have found very useful information on multiple occasions. A general thanks! for that.

Right now I am trying to gain access to a Moto X 2013 (XT1052) with a broken/black screen. The phone is rooted and has a custom recovery installed. Unfortunately USB-debugging was disabled.
I am trying to gain adb-access in recovery in order to try and activate debugging as shown here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2335799

The problem is, I can't get the Phone into recovery mode. fastboot boot recovery.img is disabled on the moto x.
When I'm in fastboot mode and press Vol-Down the phone immediately performs a normal reboot. On a non-broken Moto X Vol-Down and then Vol-Up should bring the phone in recovery.
Can anybody explain this behavior? Is there another way to access recovery?

Quick way of accessing screen to broken devices.

So my screen broke yesterday and I needed to check my phone for missed important calls. I know there is lots of solutions out there, but I needed a way access your screen without the installation of any software on your phone. I was lucky because my digitizer still works so I can still use the touch feature. I figured i would post it, might save someone someday....

You need to have have developper options enabled so this can work. So first of all, I need to enable ADB from recovery. There is lots of post on the forum and google, so I will not cover this part.

Once I had ADB enabled, I wrote a small batch file that would take a screenshot from my phone, then pull it to my pc, wait 1 sec, then restart. After I used chrome and a auto-refresh extension to refresh the image every second. I will assume that you have ADB installed and all drivers for adb working. Here it goes


1. You will need to create a batch file. Open notepad and paste this into it.

Save it as ss.txt, or whatever you like. Then go to desktop and rename ss.bat or "whatever you like.bat"
This may vary a bit if you do not have an SDcard, or if your directory is not named the same way, So change SDcard to the name of your storage folder.
Copy it to your adb directory.


2. Open a Command Prompt as Admin change directories to ADB folder. Once you are there, just type ss and the batch should start.

3. Open chrome and install an auto-refresh extension. I used this one:

4.Then open your c:\ drive in chrome (type in the address bar file:///C: ). Navigate to your adb folder and open screen.png.

5. Start auto refresh on screen.png opened in chrome and set to 1 second.

Now you will have a screenshot of your phone being refreshed every second! I agree its slow, but its an easy way to get on your phone and configure other applications such as vnc or other stuff or just to get the phone number of that hot date you had last night.

Broken Sim tray

Hello,

Has anyone had the misfortune of there sim tray breaking? I mean the lever in the sim tray holder (sorry for the bad description) is very loose and will not eject the tray. Has anyone had to order this part, if so where did you get it and did it fit as well as the oem part?

I just want to warn you about Geekbuying.com.
I ordered and payed my Teclast X98 Air 3G (C5J6) the 17th september just to get a broken one delivered by DHL on 24th september. It was no problem with the packaging so the problem must be from fabric.

When I start Windows 10 first of all it's quite hard to change language because it naturaly in Chinese. Tried following the Youtube Movie for this tablet and windows 8 but it didn't work all the way. Everything but systemlanguage was changed and now after this easy using the screen swithes to millions of colours and freezes. Only way to terminate is long pressing the Powerbutton.

Trying now booting to Android and the good thing is that it's arrived with Android 5.0 installed, not 4.4 as specified by Teclast. Easy to change languge in Android as you now but...
After 5 minutes easy use, uninstalling chinese bloatwear and watching demo Movies in default movieplayer. The screen swithes to millions of colours and after 10-15 seconds rebots.

I have tried to get a replacement from Geekbuying because of DOA. This must come from hardwareproblems when Booth operatingsystems fails with the screen.


Despite geekbuyings guidlines on their homepage :

they have not send me a new working tablet. Instead they tried to fool me that the problem could be solved localy for less than 25$. Trying me to send it back so they can first send it to fabric and then after investigation repair at my expence and send me the fixed one! Bill me for returnshipping...

I warn you for this unserious onlineshop. They have still not responded to my demands. I have payed for a new nice tablet. Had to return their faulty oen at my expence and not get any answer about when I'll recieve my purchased working Product.

It's a pity that things thats seems to be at good value turns out to be crap.

Repair broken camera glass/lens

Hello fellow XDA members!
First off here is a little about my device:
* Rooted using towel root, which is a one click root(No ODIN or anything else needed)
* Android version 4.2.2, stock at&t
* Galaxy S4 SGH-I337
Yesterday my phone kept bugging me to do an OTA update, it's done this before. I always have my phone in "OTA survival mode" in my SU app. Usually i just decline it and then finally it forces me to do the OTA update, giving me no option to cancel and automatically restarting in 30 seconds. Then i just restart it and boot it normally and everything is fine(Also it doesn't ask for OTA often). Unfortunately I managed to break my recovery since the last time it did this trying to install CWM and I never got around to changing it back to stock. Now when i boot my device, no matter what mode i try to boot into it starts to boot into recovery(I see the tiny blue text). Then some tiny white loading text popes up for a split second, I believe it says "SECURE: SECURE MAGIC failure (recovery mode)" then the next line says "Set warranty Bit: recovery", then it goes to a screen that has a tiny red "SECURE FAIL: KERNEL" in the top left and a big caution in the middle of the screen, then finally right below that it says "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone" this time in a little bit larger font.

I'm pretty sure the phone is done but any help is greatly appreciated. Also on a side note i did try to boot ODIN and also KIES but none seems to work.

Also let me know if there could be any other information i could provide

fews months ago I downloaded a rom called cm_cooper-userdebug-*20150104-*-4.4.4-*.zip, provided by the armv6team, on their own server : {dl,downloads}.androidarmv6.org/. Today, this server is down, and the team seems to stop working. I tried to contact the members, but without succes.

I can find an older rom, but my Cooper is slow whit this one, slow as unusable (near 30 seconds to display the dialer, or 1 minute to display sms ).

I'm looking for this version. Is someone have a copy, or, better, a link for this rom ?

I tried 4 or 5 differents roms, and this one was very the only "kitkat" working well on Cooper.

How to recover all my data on a broken screen phone with no debogage

Hi all,
I've got a Huawei Ascend G6 (Ultym5) but the screen is broken and I want to recover all my data (sms, contacts, note, photos) but the phone is protected by a lockscreen password and the debogage option isn't enabled in the settings. I think it's possible to screencast the phone on a computer but without debogage, I don't know..
If someone's got an idea..

broken screen, access via MHL or debug emulator?

Can I access my broken s4 using MHL to HDTV? I did not enable MHL or anything before the screen was broken. I'd like to use it as a webcam or maybe media stream to HDTV. Any other options for accessing the device (not just the data, but using the device).

Bluetooth broken after stagefright patch?

Since the stagefright patch, I've been unable to connect with all of my BT devices automatically when leaving the BT radio on. This includes my car and my Android wear devices. I always have to cycle the BT radio on and off now. Anyone else have this issue and a potential fix? Tia.

Virgin Mobile refusing to fix a broken home button as S6 has been rooted, advice?

I sent my 3 day old mobile into Virgin Media for a loose home button (doesn't register clicks properly) and was called today to say it would cost £200 to fix as the phone has been rooted and this voids warranty.

Yes, KNOX is tripped but I've read many reports in the UK warranty should still be covered. Can anyone advise me a little further in UK law? I've asked for the handset to be returned.

Broken Note III - How do I Turn On USB Debugging?
